Historically, the field of physical therapy boasts a proud and courageous past. Approximately a century ago, a rich tradition emerges from "young reconstruction aides", people who assisted and implemented the earliest forms of restorative mobility. During WWI and WWII the nationwide polio epidemic catalyzed an important profession.
Today, the profession has produced confident and accomplished practitioners at the cutting edge of promoting movement, rehabilitation, risk-reduction, and preventative services. Physical therapists are experts in restoring and improving motion in people's lives and treat people throughout the lifespan.
